Hi Russ,
I'm using a PowerBook G4 (1GHz, 1GB RAM) for running SPM2 analyses and I've
not encountered any stability issues with MATLAB or SPM. There are some
minor interface issues - window focus doesn't transfer as intuitively as it
should, for example - but overall I'm happy with it. Speedwise, it's not
too bad, though I've not done careful comparisons. It's good for
multitasking whilst running analyses, seemingly much better than machines
running Windows. Linux should also be better than Windows for this, I
guess. Apple's dual-processor desktops should be better still, potentially.
Use Apple's own X11 window manager (http://www.apple.com/macosx/x11) rather
than OroborosX (supplied with Matlab) for vastly improved 2d and 3d
graphics performance, and some interface enhancements.
Hope this helps,
Joel
