Infrared Spectroscopist/ Laser Spectroscopist
The newly formed Laboratory for Laser Spectroscopy and Atmospheric Sensing
at the University of Alberta in Edmonton (http://www.gov.edmonton.ab.ca/),
Alberta, Canada, is seeking an Infrared Spectroscopist/ Laser
Spectroscopist to be in charge of the experimental aspects of a laser
gas-sensing project. The objective of the project is to develop field
useable mid infrared diode laser gas sensing technology.
Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or related
field. A strong background in molecular spectroscopy and instrument
development is essential. Experience in mid-infrared and atmospheric
spectroscopy is desirable.
The responsibilities of the Infrared Spectroscopist/ Laser Spectroscopist
will include:
Development of laboratory based and field useable mid-infrared laser gas
sensing instrumentation.
Coordination of the development of this instrumentation with engineers and
other developers to ensure integration across individual research projects
and disciplines.
Coordination of budgets with the project accountant.
Participation in the supervision of graduate students.
The development period of the Laboratory for Laser Spectroscopy and
Atmospheric Sensing is four years and funding is in place. Interested
candidates should send a C.V., and arrange for three letters of
recommendation to be sent, to: [log in to unmask] or
