Hello,
As many of you will know, the BSA sociology of religion study group
annual conference is on April 9th-12th, at Plater College Oxford. Neil
Eliot and I have been asked to convene an evening session specifically
for postgraduate attendees (Thurs, 10th - 7.30pm) - not formal papers,
but a session in which any problems or queries regarding the research
process and beyond may be voiced, shared and advice offered.
Abby Day Peters has already suggested an open forum on research methods
- how people come up with their research plan, is it working, etc? And
Neil has suggested we deal with the steps one might take after getting
the research degree.
This is all helpful and we can easily address these issues in an open
forum and share our experiences. But does anybody else have any
questions which they'd like to raise - anything at all that they think
their fellow postgrads, including those who have just completed the
process, may be able to shed light on? If they are raised now, then that
will give us a chance to think the issues through and prepare a response
if necessary.
I hope as many of you as possible will attend the conference. They are
always lively events and are ideal contexts in which to seek advice,
make new contacts, and keep up with what's happening in the
sub-discipline.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Mathew Guest.
