those of us who develop declarative models do so to be able to capture
qualitative elements of social processes. The notion of a solution is
probably inappropriate and the assumption that it is numerical is
inaccurate in that context. It might be worth noting that an important
reason for declarative modelling is that the qualitative inputs and
outputs enable stakeholders and other domain experts to feel that they
understand and can evaluate (validate) the model and its results.
