3rd Scottish annual e-books seminar,
Mostly harmless?: the benefits and problems of e-book integration
Are you still nervous about e-books? Are you concerned with the issues that
they raise when integrating them in to your collections and services? If
so, you will want to attend the 3rd Scottish annual e-books seminar to be
held in Edinburgh on Wednesday 24th September 2003.
Our seminar will once again bring together speakers from the major e-book
players, including librarians, researchers, user groups and publishers.
Speakers will be exploring the challenges of e-book integration, issues of
access, content availability and promotion.
We are delighted to welcome Colin Galloway of Glasgow University who will
chair the seminar and also give a presentation on the work of the Scottish
e-books Content Working Group. Ian Jennings from the netLibrary Users Group
will outline how the Group influences netLibrary's e-book service. Jamie
Cuthbertson and Kim Main from the Royal National Institute for the Blind
will explain the issues affecting our visually impaired customers when
accessing electronic texts. Ann Wales will demonstrate how e-books have
been successfully integrated into the NHS e-library and John Fox from North
Lanarkshire will explain the use of e-books to promote life-long and
e-learning with the Login to Learn project. For full details of all the
speakers and presentations see the event details and program at:

As usual we hope to have demonstrations from e-books suppliers over the
lunch break.
