The Scottish ILL Rate (SILLR) scheme enables participating libraries to
lend items between themselves at a cost which is substantially less than
that of other schemes. For the third price review running, it has been
decided that, for a the financial year 1 April 2003 - 31 March 2004,
charges will remain unchanged at £4.50 per item.
Currently there are 163 Scottish libraries - of all types - involved in
SILLR.
SILLR registration, which is administered by the Inter-Library Services
Division of the National Library of Scotland, is open to any Scottish
library involved in inter-library loans (ILL) and having a British
Library Document Supply Centre Customer Account.
CONARLS (the Circle of Officers of National and Regional Library
Systems), also has an Inter-Regional Unit (IRU) pricing scheme of £5.00
per item. Again, this charge is not being increased for the year
2003-4. The IRU currently has 433 participants and registrations are
also administered by Inter-Library Services.
A list of the participants in both schemes is available on the National
Library of Scotland website at
http://www.nls.uk/professional/interlibraryservices/services/sillr.html
which also has some further information on them.
To register or obtain additional information on either SILLR or the IRU
schemes, please contact the undersigned.
