Hello!
I'm forwarding this query from Jamie Moreira: I hope someone can supply an answer.
"I have been working with an early 19th century ballad manuscript from western Aberdeenshire, and it contains an odd example of writing that I haven't seen before. At one point the author has used "i" instead of "c" for the first letter of a word, as in: "The ionclusion of this ballad to be sent if it ian be found." Can you tell me anything about this device?"
