We would like to bring to your attention a new web site for young
people interested in science and technology (www.learnist.org).
Funded by the European Commission, the two main aims of the
website are:
- To inform people about European research into information
technology
- To encourage young people to consider science and technology
careers.
The web site is available in all eleven official languages of the EU and
makes full use of multimedia features such as animation and video.
The site is divided in to "themes", or areas of interest, including
education, environment, e-commerce and wireless communication.
Within a theme users will find introductory articles, careers
information, links to other sites and details of EU funded research and
the organisations taking part in it. Further themes will be added to the
site throughout the year.
We hope that the site will prove invaluable to young people and
lifelong learners pursuing studies or considering careers in
information and communications technology.
The web site is primarily aimed at the 18+ audience, including lifelong
learners, but may be suitable for some students in the 16-18 age
group. Each theme also contains a teachers’ resources page that
contains links to appropriate web sites aimed at secondary school
pupils.
