Dr Semple from Inverclyde Hospital will talk about the valuable work he and a group of Russian /
Scots doctors and other health professionals are doing in St Petersburg (in care of cancer patients
and other fields). And how we could help.
7pm Edinburgh University, Conference Room, David Hume Tower. £2 members, £4 non-members (incl wine).
No charge for students.
Mon 10 Nov:
Chekhov's stories: Kruzhok led by Neville Long, in English. We will discuss the following stories -
The Night before Easter, The Huntsman, The Grasshopper, The Lady with the little dog. All available
in English on the internet + in print - contact me for details.

Tues 18 Nov:
Alexandra Tolstoy (MA Edin 199?) and her new husband Shamil will show slides and talk about their
expedition along the Silk Road by horse and camel. Blackwells will be there with a supply of
Alexandra's book (now out in paperback) and liquid refreshment. So this is what a degree in Russian
at Edinburgh can lead to!
