MEDICAL PRESS & PR MANAGER  
JOB PURPOSE 
To promote the aims of the British Heart Foundation working to disseminate information about the impact and outcomes of BHF-funded medical research and prevention programmes.
    
COMMUNICATIONS
*Devise press and PR plans & build strong relationships with BHF?s research community, seeking out material for media work, BHF publications and fundraising materials. *Liaise with BHF Medical and Policy colleagues over position statements and BHF responses to medical research news. *Act as a source of information on the outcomes of BHF research & education initiatives for fundraising and other colleagues. *Work with Public Affairs and Policy to develop strategic programmes to support BHF aims & objectives.

MEDIA RELATIONS
*Act as a senior spokesperson for the BHF.
*Write press releases and offer stories to journalists,developing contacts with relevant journalists and specialist writers

MANAGEMENT
*Manage two Press & PR Officers and the co-ordinator
*Manage and monitor PR budgets
*Represent BHF on relevant outside bodies 

PERSON SPECIFICATION 
We are seeking to appoint a doctor, PhD qualified medical researcher or bioscientist who has displayed a real interest in ? and talent for ? communications. The ideal candidate will have experience writing for publication and working with the media. However training and support is available for strong candidates who have less media experience. These candidates will need to show evidence of flexibility in their approach to new tasks.

People management experience is important, as is experience in project management, including budgeting and commissioning work.

The salary for this post is c. £35,000 however more might be available for an exceptional candidate.
