I've checked with my colleagues in the historical collections of the library. They suggest
contacting the Science Museum. Tim Boon and Robert Bud are the usual contacts, but they tend to be for more medical themed queries but there is a list of specialisms on their website at http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/
Alternatively Nick Wyatt at the Science Museum Library might be able to help ([log in to unmask]).
Best wishes
