Thanks for this discussion. I was having a real nightmare over the dilemma
of the "zoo." I felt both ways at one time or another during this project
and came to no real conclusion. I feel quite content to accept that humans
need to keep things in boxes, as curio pieces; and have exceeding amounts of
love for beings in other species. I am still undecided as to what to feel
but the fact that we have social mechanisms in place that are prepared to
deal with this is comforting. In the end i just went to the wonderfulk
animals in the Buffalo Zoo and approached them as individuals. And I think
that if I had my druthers, I'd move into the Toronto Zoo as a specimen.
There is more space to run around and the food looks pretty good too.
