My local paper here where I live, in what is considered a very
conservative rural area, also one of the wealthiest rural areas in
Australia, did a survey on the war with Iraq and 85 percent of
respondents were opposed to the war and some respondents in letters to
the paper said this was a war about oil markets from which we would have
little to gain. In fact, farmers, especially small family farms, would
lose out and may well be forced off their farms since oil is such a huge
cost in farming these days.
best wishes
Chris Jones.
(I have a thing about the shifting we... from a royal We to a democratic
we to a we wherever we are, nomadic we.... a fourth person singular we
as a well known poet once said.)
