reading "Ana Christie"
by icicle X-mas lights,
on a front porch perched
on a cull de sac somewhere
in Mentor, Ohio--
ghosts of now-
freight-trains
coming in and out
of earshot
Jasper Johns's numbers
seen earlier that day
dancing like sugar plum
fairies in my head...
But then, just as quick
remembering
all those two by two, three
by three, four at a time...
far away
dying in our name...
