I actually agree with you, Doug, and almost wrote something along the
lines of "best words in best order" being something that can be
interpreted to include every kind of poetic. In Houlihan's case I
felt the stamp of a proper way to do things, which I am personally
never comfortable with: mainly because as soon as you settle on some
rule or other, some other poet goes and breaks it brilliantly. Which
is not to say, either, that I abandon all aesthetic judgement or
preference, the reverse really; it's more that these sorts of Rules
seem to me to be disastrously superficial.
