A nine-fortnight performance poetry season resumes at LOOP Monday August 25.

KILLING KEN READINGS @ LOOP
The new art space-bar in Meyers Place, Melbourne, 'Loop' plays host to a series of state of the art poetry performances from August 11 - December 8 2003. The readings will be held on alternate Monday nights.
The first season of nine readings showcase a mix of youth and higher profile poets: Gig Ryan, Jennifer Harrison (Aug 25), Kirsty Sangster (Sept 8), Lish (Sept 22), Kate Fagan from NSW (Oct 13), Nigel Roberts from NSW (Oct 27), The Apparition (K.F. Pearson, Nov 10), Peter Murk (Nov 24) and Hugh Tolhurst (Dec 8). Featured poets will collaborate with visual artists, Tim Webster (test pattern) and Myvanwy utilizing Loopıs large format screens.
It's aimed at the new, young and progressive poetry audience, and includes large open sections. Below is the running list for Monday August 25th:-

Jennifer Harrison is an outstanding poet, who was born in Cabramatta, Sydney. Her first collection Michelangelo's Prisoners won the 1996 Anne Elder Award, her second collection Cabramatta/Cudmirrah includes the long poem 'Cabramatta' which tells of her adolescence in that area, this powerful poem is a feature of her performance at LOOP. Her latest collection is Dear B (Black Pepper, 2000).
Essay Shepherd are an extraordinary teenage girl acoustic duo. Their first CD will be on sale on the night.
HOOK@LOOP is a not-for-profit association formed to commission, invite and present cultural activities across of wide range of contemporary media. HOOK@LOOP is an innovative, eclectic program of visual and aural art forms.
