If that is the case, then surely it would apply equally to both sexes?
If she is talking about perception of difference - the moment when a
boy discovers he is different from his mother, and a girl discovers
she is not - and its impacts on the process of separation and
individuation, then that might be illuminating. But the removal of
the father as a profound relation from boys seems to me deeply
puzzling. As the mother of two boys.
