A buddy of mine, a fine poet named Kevin Connolly, brought to my
attention recently a 1970s American poetry movement called Actualism,
"led" by Darrell Gray.
I'd never heard of these guys, and I thought I was pretty well-read
in American poetry. I mean, I'd heard of a few of the Actualists, but
never of the movement.
George Mattingly, Dave Morice, Allan Kornblum, Anselm Hollo, Morty
Sklar were the names I recognized.
Are they part of the discussion, these guys? Does anyone in the U.S.
talk about Darrell Gray anymore? Are they recognized as an influence
on anything/anyone?
I've only begun my reading, and it's uneven, but I'm enjoying a lot of it.
