In no position here to compare anything happening in English! BUT ... a very
much ... MIND YOU ... BUT! I have actually met Shirley Temple, the one and
only, in person, live, as it were ... I exchanged words with her, she warmly
looked into my eyes, but by that time she was in her sixties, her official
stature then a US ambassador to Chechoslovakia, and she was up here
accompanying Václav Havel, who I personally recruited for a visit back in
1990 (see my personal webpage), his first ever foreign official visit. And
we made the front page of The New York Times at the time. Btw. shaking hands
with Shirley Temple was a total shock to me as the palm of her hand felt so
incredibly rough! Never felt anything like it! It was like shaking hands
with a fish long out of water!
