Rebecca's & Tom's posts about AG raise some intereting questions.
I'm reminded again of the concept of the arts as spectrums, with various
practitoners exploring the possibilities of their arts at different points
on said spectrumsd.
In one sense, then , any serious artist experiments. The changes we go
through, which I hope we go through, are our own experiments in doing
something new, something different than we did before. At least, that's how
I see my own work.
bpNichol once talked about the researchers, those who caught on to the
research & tried it for themselves, & the (probably largest) group who more
or less worked within the conventions that are in mode at their time. It's
an intriguing division & one that makes some sense to me. I certainly saw
him as one of the real researchers, & knew that I was leanring many
possibilities from his work that would help me expand the nature of mine.
But I was also lucky at the beginning, being offered Pound etc then, so I
began writing poetry in open form, which still feels right for/to me.

We are stuck with technology when what we really want
