I called Frederick a fool, publicly. I regret that. I regret having allowed
myself to be manipulated and apologise to the list for my lack of control

had Frederick asked me to explain my remark about politics I would have
done; but he shows no interest in that

i found his message in my deleted box and was foolish enough myself to be
manipulated by it - I'm jumpy and I gave in; I apologise to everyone else
for being so weak... I could not have been manipulated had I not been ready
to respond

I had challenged his contempt and he answered contemptuously including the
glorious

| | fashion, man to man.

in answer to which I can only quote from memory a character of C S Lewis's
that we may all be dead by the end of the day and I do not intend to die
with polite insincerities on my tongue

earlier some odd things were said about who gets warned and suspended here,
but I wonder at Frederick's continued deliberately provocative but content
free posting apparently unchallenged

of course I may not know the whole story and I  do endorse David's
recognition of the difficulties of list-owning

yet

those who abuse USAmericans [why do they hate us] perhaps become confused by
the ignorant arrogance of a few which thinks putting "American" before a
thing is a certificate of quality, as in "American fashion" - the British
make the same mistake...

an overall approach which is rather like bear-baiting as a form of
individuation -

the jeering of those who find themselves - usually by chance of birth,
otherwise by other chance - in a country with immense power, a country with
an ideology which asserts its power is a sign of its quality, and assume
this supposed quality is theirs

instead of being humbled, lacking imagination, they become arrogant

challenged on specific points, they do not have the ability to answer and
assume this indicates a deficiency in their challenger; and so they sneer

to sneer is their highest aspiration, somewhat higher than their apparent
comprehension and apparent ability

in this they do a disservice this to all other USAmericans

looking back over this weekend, I count over 20 exchanges between myself and
those in USA, with but 1 blighted by this contempt as a mode of being,
probably about the same here in UK
