If I understand your term 'breaking vowels' correctly, it is a hallmark
of Dublin English too, but not just before laterals. Along with 'cool'
[ku:@l] and 'school' [sku:@l] or [sku.w@l] (both becoming arguably
bi-syllabic) we have such cases as 'hair' [heI.@r], 'goal' [goU.w@l],
and the gloriously trisyllabic 'huge' [[log in to unmask]:.@dz] (from my niece, age 8).
