One type of discrimination test you could consider is minimal pairs for
strong/weak vowel, e.g. separate (verb) / separate (adj.), implement (v.) /
implement (adj.). You could ask people to identify them by their
translation equivalents (learners) or paraphrases (native speakers).
You could also do ABX tests on them.
And you could do right/wrong tests with items such as "torment (noun)"
(where weakening of -ment is wrong) vs. "payment" (where it is right).
