A word of caution. Sorry to play the "we are the experts" card (and I
would not consider myself expert in this matter) but is not diagnosis of
depression something for a clinical psychologist?
As an occupational psychologist, I use several instruments to assess
levels of depression but I am also aware of their limitations. They are
useful for getting a feel for levels in an organisation but I would not
consider them sufficiently reliable as diagnostic instruments. If I
find high levels, I tell an organisation that they have a problem that
they need to address. If an individual presented to me stating that
they were depressed or who scored highly on an instrument, I would refer
her or him elsewhere: I would not deem them to be depressed. I suggest
that if anyone other than a clin psych uses instruments to assess an
individual, they should do likewise.
Best wishes

Subject: Depression Tests
I meet with many employees who appear to suffer with depression or who
have
been diagnosed with depression and think it might be useful to assess
their
symptoms more objectively.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who routinely uses depression
tests?
Does anyone have any comments re depression tests i.e. are they helpful
etc....
I have found the 'Beck' and 'Goldberg' tests on the internet, does
anyone
use these?
Has anyone got a questionnaire that they use which they would be willing
to
send me?
Many thanks
