Hi everyone
I agree what is being said that qualified OH are best at
making the work/health relationship in relation to pre-
employment.
I have worked for an organisation that decided to do away
with PEQ (before my appointment) and in the appointment
letter asked the individual that if there were any medical
issues that they would like to discuss with their line
manager prior to commencing then to do so!!
I understood that the reason for doing this that the
individual was appointed on their strengths for the job and
that the organsiation would attempt to meet any requirements
that were required for their needs. (Disability
Discrimination Act interpretation) there were some
interesting cases when one HR manager asked me what do we do
an individual had said they are HIV positive- information
that is I feel something that should be confidential.
Interesting debate, and I would hate to have to comment on
PEQ if I was not OH qualified.
I now work as an independant OH specialist and love working
for organsiations who are paying for the advice and time and
there is very little in house politics involved.
Kind regards
Clare Haddow
