Many OH practitioners are of the view that it is very important that
occupational health practitioners including OH physicians and OH nurses are
involved in a team approach to the formulation of drug and alcohol policies.
If we are not involved then we may have to work with a policy which is
purely punitive and does not recognise that a worker with an alcohol problem
has a health problem.
If we are not involved in the formulation of the policy we may have to work
within a policy with which we do not agree.
