I have no experience of this, but post office / mail services must have,
their franking machines whizz stuff through at a pace.

Thanks I didn't mention that we already reviewed the entire job & tasks.
The date stamping seems to be the most significant factor. Envelopes are
opened by automated machine & there is a degree of pulling out of paper &
sorting it into piles, date stamping + stapling where appropriate with
automatic stapler.

,
It may be worth doing some job analysis studies as it may not soley be the
date
stamper, but the actual opening of the post itself could be a signicant
factor
too.
Best Wishes

Subject: Ergonomics & date stamping
Hello there - does anyone have any experience of using ergonomic advice to
reduce date stamping exposure. The particular group of people work in a post
receiving area & are involved in batching up post after opening it up & hand
stamping receipt dates. Upper limb problems are being experienced, probably
exaccerbated by work practices - an electronic stamper has been trialled
however it has been rejected as being too slow for the work output required.
The expectation is that the post will be distributed at start of the day
therefore job rotation / delay to later in the day is not acceptable.
We are also trialling different system ie distributing the post to the
destination areas who will stamp dates themselves obviously on a smaller
scale
but the post room staff will probably still need to process a high
proportion
of this work.
If any of you has had experience of similar problem, solutions or can
recommend ergonomic assistance / advice I would be grateful if you could
contact me:
