I used to work for a company that did not enforce retirement. Instead every
employee over 65 had to see OH yearly for a general fitness to work
assessment. as their performance and attendance were satisfactory and they
were performing useful work management were happy for them to continue (even
on modified duties). We had one lady who insisted she was 64 but we
estimated that she was at least 76!

I went on a study day yesterday on a similar topic and was told changes are
due at the end of this year and EU changes in 2004 but this was more to do
with DDA law and not age.I would be intrested in some feed back as we have
a company policy of retiring everyone at 65 and have a agency person still
working at 69 which is causing heated debate. The general feeling being(
amongst managers) that the person has got to be past it!
