Hi David
The document Taking a Public Health Approach in the Workplace: A guide for
Occupational Health Nurses includes a chapter on core competencies. You can
request a copy from Carol Bannister at the RCN.

Subject: Core competencies in OH
Dear All,
Moving aside from the intellectual debate!
I am currently looking at revision of job descriptions and tying this
together with core competencies in line with "Agenda for change"
For those who are unaware, future grading within the NHS will be decided on
by assessment of competency at each pay level.
What I am looking for is to review existing competency standards but am
really struggling trying to find anything recent for Occupational Health.
Can anyone assist me or point me in the right direction to find some
existing core competencies, I have seen the recent article in OH review
about the meeting of the RCN managers forum and the SOHN but am not aware of
any outcomes from this, can anyone offer any advice
thanks in anticipation
David
