From Anglian Water
Hi there
We did the Keystone and voucher system and then changed over to an
outside provider, namely Duncan & Todd. The later proving to be the most
cost effective for the business as they even do the admin for us!! My
own experience of vision screening in house was, that when anyone
presented with defective vision they had to go to an optician anyway, so
the cost of OH time and a voucher for the opticians was an increased
cost. We do not screen for eye disease and - I appreciate I can only
speak for this neck of the woods - many of those whom I'd see hadn't had
an eye test since school age! When I audited the voucher system, I found
it had been widely abused and was costing far more than realistically it
should have been. Duncan and Todd have contracts with most of the High
St opticians now, I believe this now includes Boots too. I agree with
Graham that Spec savers also provide a service, but I'm unsure of how
they compeer with price. Contact details are: Duncan & Todd Corporate
Eyecare, 14 Crown Terrace, Aberdeen, AB11 6HE. Tel: 0124 211166.
Best wishes
Mary

I am employed at a university where we send our DSE users to an outside
optician for eye tests. As we have approx. 1000 employees who qualify
for eye tests there are significant cost implications. I would welcome
hearing what other organisations do and how the introduction of
keystone, etc eye testing, was received by individuals and the trade
unions
Thanks in advance,
