Heather, I have not seen anything, but I'd be amazed if any legislation was
published that quickly in response to SARS & First Aid or indeed if it went
into such fine detail as what equipment to provide. I would have thought
that an assessmment of the real risk to the safety of the first aider should
help to determine what equipment should be provided. Since WHO has removed
the restrictions for travel worldword with respect to SARS, I would have
thought the risk was very low in the UK where there is no SARS. You might
find the link to the public Health Laboratory helpful:

Do let us know if you find anything. Dawn

Subject: SARS and facemasks
I have just had the following query from one of our first aiders & would be
grateful if anyone out there could point me towards any guidance related to
this item:
"in light of the recent SARS cases it is now recommended that First Aiders'
have a flow guard face mask for CPR - are you aware of this new legislation"
I am asking the persons who raised this to identify their source also.
Regards
Heather Bearpark (formerly George)
