Chris,
what do you mean..MY definition of competency? It is not my definition at
all.
As for discussing it with someone with legal responsibilities..fine. But
this group is an Occupational health forum, not a safety one. We, as nurses
have professional responsibilities to ourselves, ourv profession and we have
to abide by a Code of Conduct which itself determines what competency is.
I am not prepared to discuss what IOSH, NEBOSH, BSC or IIRSM set as
standards for competencies of their own members... but I do know what
qualifications you need to have to be members of a certain level.
Lets call this a day...and congratulate all those NHS Trusts who got 3
stars. Like the stats or not, to get 3 stars takes some doing.
With kind regards,
James
