I think the rhizome reasoning is that you should pay for the honour of
being in the artbase because it gives your work a legitmacy it wouldn't have
otherwise and advances your career - you've got the rhizome stamp of
approval! It's the you need them more then they need you arguement. Which is
why I haven't paid rhizome either, I have 3 or 4 projects in the artbase I'm
not sure how many because I can't see them anymore. Just as well I only let
them mirror the projects.

A lot of the energy in net.art is in sites like yours, attys, mine and many
many more. Maybe the time has come for some sort of association of
independent net art sites where we can share audiences and information and
do it in a way that doesn't require new york offices.
