To losslessly rotate images, choose 'Save as [..rotated...]' from the 'File'
menu. This will only allow you to make orthogonal (90-degree) rotations (you
select the view orientation with the 'Format' pull down, see my web site for
more details.
Reslicing to increments other than orthogonal cuts will ALWAYS result in a
reduction in image quality. During Free-Rotate, MRIcro uses a simple
trilinear interpolation, so it does not attempt to save more than 8-bits
resolution. If you want to try a more precise method for reorienting images,
I recommand SPM2.
