Dear Colleagues,
we have two Nd:YAG lasers from Spectra Physics: an eight year old GCR 190 and a six year old GCR 230. The GCR 230 is having a flickering problem: the laser would turn itself off and slowly ramp up its energy right away, and the flicker happens at irregular time intervals, more often after an extensive use of two or three days, less often after a period of resting. The GCR 190 is having a "saw-tooth" type energy output, and the period is about 7-8 minutes with an amplitude of 20% of the total energy. Does anybody have similar problems or know a possible cure(s)? We are thinking of a service call, but we would like to know more about our problems before spending a load of money, especially when the flicking problem is not quite reproducible.
