Recently I was one of a group shown round the brickworks and the
ropeway - but I didn't do the organising.
Yes, there are plans to replace the current ropeway.
The firm seem to be well aware of the importance of the ropeway, and
very proud of it. They took a lot of time and trouble with what was
an interesting and informative visit.

> I understand from a friend that the ropeway in use at Claughton
Manor Brickworks is to be replaced with a new, higher capacity one. I
trust that I am correct in my assumption that this is the last
'classic' ropeway in use in this country. Is anyone planning to try
and obtain any items for preservation or to rescue soon to be obsolete
paperwork, manuals etc from the owners? Does anyone know what the
firms attitude is to prospective visitors and does anyone have a
contact name there.
