It's difficult to say if you don't have more information. There were not
only 5 "bassins" but als hundreds of (little) strikes during the Interbellum
period. If it appears in a Canadian newspaper, it's possible the strike of
1932 in the Borinage Bassin (near Mons, about 70 km SE of Brussels). It was
a long strike with a rebellious - left wing - characteristic against the
working conditions and the low wages of the miners . Henri Storck produced a
breathtaking documentary about the strike which shocked the public opinion.
