Many former mining towns in central Europe have mining tools as part of their
coat-of arms. Those in the former Czechoslovakia that I am aware of are:
Horni Slavkov - crossed hammers with a rake and two miners in festival dress.
Jelsava - crossed silver hammers and a miner in festival dress.
Nejdek - crossed silver hammer and pick.
Kasperske Hory - silver hammers and picks.
Hora Svate Katering - silver mining hammers.
Bruntal - a miner holding a mining wedge and pick with an adit entrance.
In the arms of Becov upon Tepla a rampant lion holds a miner's hammer in a
front paw.
Probably many other examples exist in the former Free or Royal Mining Towns.
A useful reference is the three issues of Caka, J. & J. Schenk, 1978,
"Civitates Montanarium in re Publica Bohemoslovenica" Scientias Rerum
Montanarum Pribram with English summary.
