Hi Group
Here in NSW Australia some 30 or so years ago I was using a diesel powered Landrover for personnel transport in an underground coal mine (Bellbird Colliery) where I was manager.
It was approved by the NSW Dept of Mines, featuring derated engine, flame traps, water coolled manifolds, flameproff permissable generator, no battery and non electric (spring ) starting. Approved low-sulphur fuel was required and monthly exhaust gas analysis mandatory.
Restricted to main intake airways (in theory) it proved most successful and saved us a deal of time and money ...was very popular with the workforce.
An all round success and no problems except when starting on a cold Sunday night ... solved by leaving it on a hill for a rolling start.
Regards
John
