i seem to remember a section in the Colliery Deputy's Handbook that
dealt with these but can't put my hands on either it or my notes from
the class I took at Ashington Tech that covered this - but I will
continue looking

> Dear Sir,
>In support of Gerhard Moll in his research for his book on the German
>locomotive company of Jung and my preparation of an article on "Hydroleum
>Locomotives" for the British NGRS magazine, I am curious as to the
>references in the book "Life and Work of the Northern Lead Miners" to The
>Hydroleum loco on page 38. I have in by collection of works photos at least
>five photos showing 5 individual loco's. The picture No 16840 at the Park
>Level, Killhope, Weardale, shows a Hydroleum locomotive which is unknown to
>me. It appears to be a later model.

> I am also curious as to the reference to a "Schram" locomotive on the same

>similar lines to the Hydroleum locomotive?
>
> I have written to the Beamish Museum who are archive holders of the
>published photos, however they have replied stating they have no knowledge
>of Hydroleum or Schram locomotives and were hoping that I could inform them
>of their history and development!

>I would be very grateful for a correspondence on these matters.

>Yours sincerely,
