I got this from Stuart Tomlins (Shropshire Mines Trust):
Yes, There is one at Astley Green Colliery Museum in Leigh Lancashire.
It is driven by a Gardner diesel engine and was sold to them from Chatterley
Whitfield at the bankruptcy sale. It is built on a three axle bogie trailer
and is a massive piece of kit.
Also at the sale was a more modern Robey electric emergency winder I believe
it went for scrap for £300. The E.R.F tractor was sold as a seperate lot.
Put him in touch with me if you like.
Stuart.

Subject: mobile emergency winding apparatus
A query I have recently received asks if anyone knows the details of any
mobile winding apparatus still in existence.
Either in preservation or mining service?
My contact has recently tried to acquire a Scammel unit that apparently is
completely mobile consisting of a lorry unit with diesel generators mounted.
There is also a trailer carrying the winding gear.
It seems that there were others around with everything mounted on a single
chassis.
But does any of this kit survive?
He thinks the Scammel unit may be the last and is attempting to preserve it
but there is a serious threat that the current owner will break it.
