Hello Thomas,
A quick search by way of the GOOGLE search engine showed the following from
this website............. <A HREF="http://www.mining-europe.de/database/spain.htm">http://www.mining-europe.de/database/spain.htm</A>
Several small mines are in Tormaleo, Fabero and the Bierzo area. In Tormaleo
Minas de Tormaleo SA ownes a couple of small mines and an opencast mine. Coal
is moved to Rio Sil valley by ropeway. In Fabero a drift mine and some
opencast mines are in production. Four headframes of closed mines are
remaining. In the valley of Rio Sil washeries, stations of ropeways and
closed drift mines can be found. Coal is mined in opencast operations. In the
Montes de Leon (Bierzo) there are several drift mines, some diagonal shafts
with headframes and also one shaft in production. Mines are very small
operations. In 1997 another headgear was remaining east of Bembibre.
Kind regards,
