By the way, do people think that the Romans may in fact have had a two
stage smelting process? Stage 1 being at a bole on top of a hill to
produce a rough pig from smelting galena. Stage 2 at a central location
where the rough pigs were melted and cast in proper moulds to give the
traditional shape plus lettering?
