Dear List
Some time back I asked if anyone had web space available for hosting
the Merioneth Manganese web site because I had hit my ISP's storage
limit (10Mbyte on btinternet). Subsequently, a number of people
emailed me to ask that I let them know if I found a solution, hence
this somewhat off-topic posting.
I've since moved the Merioneth Manganese web site to a Tiscali
pay-as-you-go account (tiscali.co.uk) who provide 50Mbyte web space.
I've also purchased (from oneandone.co.uk) a domain name of my own
(hendrecoed.org.uk) which I have redirected to my new ISP (hence the
announcement of the new web address for Merioneth Manganese). This
means that in future I should be able to move to a different ISP
without having to change the address of the web site.
It's not a final solution as far as I'm concerned because it doesn't
give me the cgi-bin access that I'd like. (I want this in order to
provide some advanced search facilities on some data I'm hoping to
make available to the mining history community in the near future.)
However, it will serve for the time being and should make future
moves of web site relatively painless.
If anyone has further queries about this, I suggest they contact me
outside the list.
Finally, thanks again to everyone who emailed me with suggestions for new ISPs.
Regards
Dave
