Dear Bob,
Thankyou for your email and getting in touch.
Now, the items I mentioned in the email to the list of Sunday the 9th
(yesterday), I suspect could be from Chat.Whit., and the other items
mentioned before (Elec.Engs.), I will not swear to. None have the Chat.Whit.
ink stamp, but, mind you, amongst all the lots I bought - which were quite a
few, but not that many - there was quite a lot of unstamped items.
I would be pleased to sell the two 'lots' posted to the List for a reduced
price to a good home, but it would not be proper for me to sell them as prev.
Chat.Whit. items since I am not certain they are - no ink stamps. I have this
evening given first refusal to 'another', but rest assured that does not - in
this special case - necessarily mean they will go in this direction - in any
case, if I do not hear back within five or six days I will not wait any
longer. There are other offers 'on the table', but again, I will favour your
cause.
I do actually have general printed items from Chat.Whit. that is ink stamped,
and I will be happy to see this 'go back', for a fair price to this cause. it
will take me quite a time to gather it all together, but it won't be going
anywhere else! I have no idea what quantity it will be, not vast I'm afraid,
and I still wish I had bought more of the printed material on those tables
when I had the chance. There is one 'artifact' (a Drager in box), that has
one of those strip printed labels saying 'Chatterly Whitfield', and this can
go home so to speak.
The Auction catalogue I used at the sale could be p.copied if it's wanted,
since I sat through the whole Auction, and priced most of the items as they
were sold. I bought the JCB by the way, and it is still in good working order
for light duties on the farm - still with all the Museums name transfers on
the back-acter and the name boards as in the Auction cat. p.graphs!
I have never forgotten that Auction, and found it a sad event, but, if I
didn't buy things others would, so I looked at it in that light at the time.
I took my video camera on the viewing day by the way, and took probably half
an hours worth of tape - on everything. The little loco. working, stuff for
sale, and everything in the upstairs auction area - you will have been there
during this time I suspect, so you will know where I mean! If the new Museum
would like a copy of this tape, they would be welcome to do so, it's just a
question of where it's done and cost isn't it - I will see if there's anybody
properly qualified in Aberystwyth to do it, but I would be very nervous in
letting it go to far out of sight if you know what I mean! - not pinched, but
it's getting lost in the post would be heart breaking!
Back to the 2 list items and price. I have been thinking while typing - half
the reason why this email is so long! I would part with both of the two items
for £85 + post/Ins.. The other chap is talking about £100. However, I must
give the other party his time, it would not be fair otherwise as you will
appreciate - five days.
While I am going through items now, anything I don't need for my purposes
that IS labelled and ink stamped Chat.Whit., I will separate, and eventually
list to you - or whoever you suggest.
Kind Regards, Bernard.
