The following may be useful to you;
Fahy, K. 1998, 'Being a midwife or doing midwifery', ACMI Journal, vol. 11,
no. 2, pp. 11-16.
It's a bit old now but see what you think.
Best of luck

yes, thanks Denis - we are concentrating at the moment on papers which
specifically set out to address general concepts of expertise, and we will
return to specifics (such as labour onset, third stage, &etc) later. thanks
again

Subject: review of midwifery expertise: query
Dear all,
I am contacting you to ask if anyone knows of any on-going or completed (but
unpublished) research which is specifically focused on the area of midwifery
expertise during labour and birth? We are in the process of undertaking a
systematic review in this area, and we have only identified one paper for
inclusion so farWe would be very grateful for any leads in this area.
Many thanks
Soo Downe, Katriona Trafford, Louise Simpson
