Subject: Maternal health and quality of life in developing countries
Dear all,
I am part of the Quality of Life Work programme at the London School of
Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, which is part of IMMPACT (Initiative for
Maternal Mortality Programme Assessment, www.abdn.ac.uk/immpact ).The Work
Programme's main goal is to explore and measure 'quality of life' in
postpartum women, as a tool for programme evaluation of safe motherhood
interventions in a number of developing countries (Burkina Faso, Ghana,
Indonesia, and possibly Benin).
I would be interested in any feedback on 'quality of life' measurement as
it relates broadly or specifically to maternal health (or to reproductive
health, obstetrics, gynaecology etc.), as well as any feedback on work on
QoL measurement in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Indonesia and Benin. Any contact
information for people working in these fields is greatly appreciated. I am
also interested in any anthropological or other qualitativework that
explores notions of well-being and quality of life.
Thank you.
