Trish discus the issue of cutting the cord and her answer really surprise
me, because she writes: "In about a 1000 births I think I've done it once
because if it's that tight there will probably be significant decels and
this mom may end up with a caesarean birth." Trish do I really understand
you in the right way? Would a section be performed after the delivery of
the baby's head on the indication decelerations?
Cheers from another inhabitant from the wild side

Subject: Re: palpation for nuchal cords
Ok I'll put my two cents in. Yes US midwives are taught to cut nuchal
cords if they are so tight the baby cannot be delivered through the cord
which I was also taught (summersalted). You put two clamps on the cord and
cut it; you need to be careful because it's so tight around the baby's
neck. In about a 1000 births I think I've done it once because if it's that
tight there will probably be significant decels and this mom may end up
with a cesarean birth.
