Does anyone have any information or thoughts regarding the following:
I am a research midwife working on the Magpie Trial and its 2yr UK Follow
up Study. The Magpie Trial looked at the role of magnesium sulphate for
women with pre-eclampsia, the Follow up Study
is looking at the long term outcome for the women and their children.
The Magpie Trial and its Follow up Study offers an opportunity to explore
the women's views about taking part in a randomised trial. Therefore in
conjunction with the Follow up Study I am carrying out a qualitative study
exploring the experiences of the women involved in the Magpie Trial.
Aswell as a questionnaire being sent to all women recruited to the Magpie
Trial in the UK (n = 804) a sub group of women have been offered an
interview to explore in greater depth their experiences. The majority of
these interviews will be performed by myself & I acknowledge I am part if
the Magpie Trial, therefore some of the women may find it difficult to talk
openly and honestly about their involvement in the trial, especially if
they have had a negative experience. To help with this, at the end of each
interview the women are given a Magpie Trial evaluation form with a prepaid
envelope. This gives the women the opportunity to write down any experience
of the Magpie Trial that they felt they could not discuss with myself.
It is with this part of the study I am asking for any information or
advise. Has anybody used this method of post interview evaluation form
before? and/or does anyone know of any studies that have?. I have done a
quick literature review but cannot find any reference to this type of
research method.
I would be really good to hear from anyone that has any information for me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my email.
Thanks again,
Rebecca Smyth
