In January, I circulated a proposed plan to hold the next meeting of
the European Perinatal Epidemiology Network alongside the
IEA/SEE meeting in Toledo, Spain from October 1-4. We have now
heard that the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit is planning to
hold a meeting in Oxford on October 2, to mark 25 years of the
Unit and I suspect many of the people concerned in the perinatal
field will be in Oxford rather than Toledo. There is therefore an
alternative suggestion to hold the network meeting in Oxford on
October 3.
The purpose of this email is to see whether anyone who would like
to come to the network meeting is already committed to going to
Toledo and would therefore be excluded if the venue changed.
We are planning two sessions, one session on measuring
outcomes in routine data, including issues arising the projects in
the current European health monitoring programme, and in
research. Jane Sandall has offered to co-organise this, in
conjunction with the International Confederation of Midwives
Research Group. The second session would be on comparing and
evaluating care for migrant women in Europe general with a
particular focus on refugees and asylum seekers. The purpose of
this would be to discuss the potential for European collaboration in
this area.
As the closing date for abstracts for the Toledo conference is
March 15, we clearly need to reach a decision in the next few
days. I will be meeting some of the people concerend on Tuesday
and am anxious to hear people's views before then.
